I have just finished reading a wonderful book titled Designed for Joy. This book focuses on the roles of Christian men and women in today's society and how the gospel impacts us. A group of authors come together and weigh in about their thoughts on being and raising men, femininity, submission, discipline, raising our kids in a transgender world and more! I loved reading the different views and as a wife and mother I enjoyed the insight into the man's mind as the men explained how they view living Christ like and raising their sons to do the same.
At the beginning of the book Jonathan Parnell examines sexuality through three perspectives sex, gender, and gender identity. He explains the first perspective is biological (sex) which is given by God and this regulates the others. The second perspective (gender) is societal and is how others view males and females act. And the third is psychological (gender identity) how we view men and women act. He goes on to define manhood from there.
