Marriage God's Way: Messy Beautiful Love Book Review & Giveaway!

Blessings loves!

In my previous post I mentioned that I have recently received a copy of Messy Beautiful Love: Hope and Redemption for Real Life Marriages by Darlene Schacht of Time Warp Wife to read and review. I have been following her on Facebook for a while and always love her marriage tips and advice on her blog. When this opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance to be able to read a book to help me live my marriage as God intended it to be!

I couldn't have said it better! I was so excited to read her book and expected to read nice pretty words of what we should and shouldn't being doing in our marriages. Not that this book doesn't include that, but it is Darlene's testimony.

I felt like I really got to know Darlene in this book.  She shares the ups and downs of her marriage. It is great to know you are not alone if this role of being a wife and striving to God's will. She has such a great writing style and makes you not want to put the book down because you want to know more and more.

She starts the book with her husband coming home on his birthday and asking "Are you having an affair?". She goes on to admit that she did and how he showed her grace when she didn't deserve it. The same way God shows us grace everyday.

There are several messages I took away from this book, I couldn't possibly list them all! A few are:

“When marriage functions as God intended it, both a husband and a wife bring glory to God..."

If you want your husband to grow into a strong man of God who will lead your family, you have to step back and give him room to grow.

It is more important to DO right than to be right.

Trust your husbands intentions.

We have been forgiven much; therefore, we have much to forgive.

"Sacrificial love is what the best marriages are made of."

When you truly love someone, you look for and hope for the best in them. That's when you begin to see him in the light of Gods grace.

'Submission is a choice...it's not something that should be imposed on us...it's our response to God's love.'

Well that was more than a few huh!? Lol. And there are so many more great messages in this book! I will be talking more about them on the blog so stay tuned!

This book helped me to appreciate my husband for the wonderful gift of God that he is. I hope it does the same for you! At the end of each chapter she offers a challenge for us to pray and take on to become better wives in our marriages. I really loved that! Maybe it is the competitor in me lol. Thank you Darlene!
