What the World Says VS What the Bible Says About You!

Blessings loves!

In life we get caught up in hearing the voices of those around us or in our head and we forget what the bible says about who we are and whose we are. We sometimes live in fear of rejection, failure, or not feeling good enough because we are living to gain the approval of others. God wants us to think positively and love ourselves, not doubt ourselves as His creations! We need to refocus on scripture.

Here are 4 scriptures to counter those negative voices that may sometimes surround you!

Have you been listening to the world or reading scripture and listening to God?

Time Management Tips for Busy Moms!

Blessings loves!

I have had a lot of moms tell me that they want more time in their day. We can't get more time, but we can practice better time management. Sometimes with all that we the house, taking care of the kids, tending to our husbands that time just gets away from us. There are some things that you can do and have helped me tremendously!

First things first!

1. Make a list of the goals you want for your house. I have discovered that a majority of people do not set goals. We just react to things in life as they come along. However, to create change we must do something different. Write down the goals that you want for your home (including the people in it.). If you don't have a journal, now may be the time to get one!

2. Make a list of tasks that align with those goals. What do you need to do to get those goals accomplished? Write everything down.

3. Create a schedule. Decide when each task needs to be done and how long it will take.

4. Write it down. Studies show that most things are more likely to get done when we write them down. I love making a list and crossing off things as I accomplish them. This may work for you too!

5. Put it in your phone. You can also put these things in your phone since we have our phones with us so often. Another great visual reminder. The digital version of writing things down.

6. Set timers. You can use the timer app on your phone or download timer apps suited to your needs by searching in your app store. When your timer goes off, stop or set it for another time period. I get off track sometimes because I focus on one thing too long and then I am exhausted afterwards. But I can't stop because it's mom life right? lol

It is always a work in progress but some progress is better that none!

4 Ways to Get Out of the Stay at Home Mom Rut.

Blessings loves!

Are you a mom who stays at home with your kids and feels like sometimes it is just too much? Like you need something new, a break from the norm? I know how you feel girl! I have been there and still battle it somedays now.

If we are not careful, it will affect our attitudes and how we interact with the ones that we love. We don't want that! There are some things that you can do starting right now!

1. Get out of the house. Take yourself and some little one(s) out of the park, go window shopping, go to the splash pad, or go sit at Starbucks and enjoy a cup of tea. Being out in nature will help a lot from the feeling of being cooped up in the house.

2. Take time to yourself doing what you love.
I mentioned several ways to do this in my previous post. Take some time to do things you love and refresh your mind so that you can serve from a full cup rather than being exhausted and trying to help everyone else.

3. Make new women/mom friends. Adult conversation is very underrated. It's important for us to talk to other moms or other women so that we know we are not alone and to have support when we are feeling down. Go on a play date or join a mom's group. Check out MOPS international. There are a few blog posts about them here.

4. Appreciate and enjoy the time with your children. In the past because I was working at home and taking care of the house I would feel irritated because my son wanted my attention when I was working. But I had to realize that he is more important than any of this other stuff that I'm doing and I close my computer and spend time with him. This is time I can never get back.

5 Ways for Stay at Home Moms to Practice Self Care

Blessings loves!

As stay at home and work at home moms, it seems like our little ones are always there. We are eating, we are using the restroom, we are cleaning the house. They are always there. Can you relate lol?

It becomes our new norm and we forget to spend time by ourselves. We start to think that it has to be that way. But it does not and we have to create little corners of time for ourselves.

We have to realize that it if mom is not taking care of herself, she will not be a happy person. We need to make ourselves a priority in our everyday lives. You deserve it for all of the hard work that you do!

Some ways we can create time in the day for ourselves are...

1. Determine how much time you want to spend. Whether it is 10 minutes to 2 hours. How much time do you want to spend and how often? I used to think it had to be a long stretch of time. But a quick 15 minutes doing something that I love really can refresh me for the day.

2. Nap when the kids nap. I know I heard this advice before I had my twins and my two-year-old and of course I was like when they are asleep I want to get work done. I want to clean the house. For a while I would work on my business or try to clean up while my they were asleep. But as I started to take naps while they napped, I would feel much better for the rest of the day. Even if it meant laying them down and napping for 30 minutes and then getting up and working for the rest of the time they were asleep.

3. Shower while they nap. This works well for me if I would lay my son down and immediately take a shower. No excuses for I don't have time for mommy. Because it is already in my schedule. Even a quick 5-10 minute shower is SO refreshing!

4. Be near your child, but not playing with them. This means sitting in a chair in the same room reading, sewing ect. or have them play in a room and you sit in a room near them enjoying some quality time to yourself.

5. Join an organization. I am a member of MOPS international. We meet twice a month. They rotate having a speaker and a craft. I love it! Anddddddd they have childcare. Woooo hoooo! It is such a blessing! Find a MOPS near you.

Beautiful DIY Two Tone Spoon Mirror

Hello loves!

In need of some budget friendly, beautiful, and unique home decor, I began to look around on Pinterest and found some DIY ideas for a plastic spoon mirror. I thought man, these really look great! So I decided to make my own. Of course it had to be purple lol! My FAVE color!

What you will need:

Purple Spray Paint (purchased at Walmart)
Metallic Gold paint (purchased at Walmart)
6 inch craft mirror (purchased at Michaels)
150-200 CLEAR plastic spoons (purchased at Walmart)
Glue gun (had at home)
Glue sticks (purchased at Walmart)
E6000 glue (purchased at Walmart)
Rhinestones (purchased at Michaels)
Foam Brush (purchased at Michaels)
Ribbon (used some from home)
Cardboard box (from the house)

Total cost approx. $20. :)

I began by using a cardboard box and a large circle bowl to drop a circle on the cardboard. I then cut the circle out. I took the mirror and traced a circle in the middle of the cardboard circle so that I would know where to stop glueing the spoons. I then snapped the handles off of 100+ spoons. This will take time so be patient. Then I used the glue gun and began gluing the spoons on the outer rim on in. Make sure on each new row, that the spoons alternate in space so that you are not placing one spoon directly in front of the other.

When I was done, I went outside and began to spray the spoons.
I used maybe 3-4 coats and let it dry.

YAY! I love purple lol.

After that dried, I used a foam brush and began to paint the smallest circle of spoons with the gold paint. Let dry.

Next, I took some ribbon and my glue gun and glued them to the back. Yes, I went a little crazy with the glue. Lol

I cut out a piece of cardboard about the size of the mirror and glued it on with the E6000 glue so that the mirror would sit even when glued down. *Use this glue in a well vented room and with a mask on.

I really like a little bling in my decor so I used the glue gun and added rhinestones on the inner gold spoons and outer purple spoons to give it that eye catching factor!

I then used the E6000 glue and glued the mirror on top, let dry for 24-36 hours and.... TAH DAH! lol *Remember use this glue in a well vented room and with a mask on.

This is the final product hanging on my wall! I LOVE IT!!
My daughter wants me to make one for her room! lol

Have you made one of these? How did it turn out!?

How to Overcome the Stronghold of Shame

Blessings loves!

Have you ever found yourself thinking about something in the past that you were not proud of doing? If people bring it up, do you start to feel shame and guilt? Wishing it had never happened?

There was a time in my past when I wasn't proud of who I was. When people started to talk about college life I would sometimes feel shame. However, I am in a place in my life where I have embraced who I was, who I am now, and how my past shaped who I have become as a woman of God. You can too! Below are 6 ways to overcome the stronghold of shame!

1. Acknowledge that the past cannot be changed

We sometimes relive the past in our minds over and over again. This is what creates the stronghold in our life. We think 'well only if I had...' or 'if I hadn't...' When in reality, we cannot change what we did. What we can do is learn from our mistakes and not choose the same path in the future.

2. Know that you are not your past

The mistakes that you made in your past are not who you are. Each day, moment, breath is a new chance to make a better you. Embrace this. Embrace that God is making a new thing in you each day if you will allow him to.

3. Realize that shame is the devil's way of putting your purpose on pause

The devil loves to remind us of our sins in our past. This keeps us in the vicious cycle of living in shame and feeling guilty for the things that have happened.

4. Know that your sins are part of your testimony

Your past sins made you who you are today. They strengthened you and molded you. They are now a part of your testimony that you can share to help others. Embrace them and use them for good.

5. Repent of your sins

Talk to God about your sins and turn away from them. This is important in stopping the cycle of backsliding and more repeat shame.

6. Forgive Yourself!

Stop beating yourself up and punishing yourself for your past sins. Living in unforgiveness is a form of bondage. It is time to set yourself free! God forgives you and that means you should too!

How are you forgiving yourself today?
