7 Marriage Scriptures Inspired by Love

Blessings loves!

Marriage is hard work and sometimes may seem like a mundane job. Let us not forget that marriage should have a basis of love for one another and God. Here are a few scriptures to remind us to keep love flowing in our marriages!

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.- 1 Peter 4:8

Some things our spouse may do may seem unforgivable, but let us remember that we love our spouse.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. -1 Corinthians 13:4-7

This says SO MUCH. When we want to envy, be prideful, rude, or rejoice in our spouse's trials; we should remember these things are not of love.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. -Ephesians 5:25-27

This scripture is so powerful. We should love our spouse and be willing to give ourselves for each other. Be a Godly example to one another.

Let your fountain be blessed,
And rejoice with the wife of your youth.
As a loving deer and a graceful doe,
Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
And always be enraptured with her love.
-Proverbs 5:18-19

So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. -Ephesians 5:28

I love that this scripture talks about the husband loving himself and his wife. As spouses, we are as one and should love ourselves as well as our spouse.

Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. -Colossians 3:18-19

One major way that women know they are appreciated is by their husband expressing love to them.

Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. -1 Peter 3:7

What scripture reminds you to keep love in your marriage?

My Inspiring Natural Birth Story

Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. -Psalm 127:3

Blessings loves!

When I first found out I was pregnant, I decided I wanted to have an unmedicated vaginal birth. I could tell from my husband's facial expression as a result of this news that he thought I was crazy but he just wouldn't say it lol. So, here is my story...

When I thought about birthing naturally, I never looked at it as an empowering experience. I actually just thought of it as a scary experience! I knew giving birth was a big deal but with my twins I got an epidural because I didn't want to be put to sleep if I had a c-section. Which I did end up having. (And yes, I have 4 year old twins lol.) So I considered birth as just part of the process and the beautiful part would be seeing my miracle of a baby.

During my pregnancy I had moments when I would be extremely sad, as we often do. Sometimes I didn't feel empowered at all about being a mom again. So I prayed to God and asked Him to give me a sense of empowerment. About 36 weeks into my pregnancy while I was on Facebook, I saw a post by Leonie Dawson who had recently given birth to a beautiful baby girl. This post recommends 10 books that may change your view on parenting and birthing. One of the things she mentions that caught my eye was Hypnobirthing / Hypnobabies / Calmbirth. Being that I have a 'worrying problem', I began to research this. I learned about hypnosis and how it is applied to the birthing process. I told my husband about it and he was supportive of course. He sent me the link to a download on iTunes. When I listened to the sample, it immediately helped me to relax and I purchased it. I started to listen to it at night before bed.

Being on a budget & so late in my pregnancy, after researching many books and methods, I decided to buy the book Hypnobirthing, The Mongan Method. Most birthing classes are 6 weeks long and more than our budget allowed. I would often read Hypnobirthing while waiting for my weekly checkup! Learn more about this method HERE

I loved the perspective of birth described in this book. It made me feel very empowered that I as a woman had been chosen to create and birth a human being. That birth did not have to be a stressful experience or unnecessarily painful. It also addressed how fear affects birth and our perception of birth today. I definetly needed to read that because I was filled with fear! It also explains relaxation techniques, exercises, and much more! It came with a Hypnobirthing CD as well, but I preferred the Hypnosis Birthing cd download so I listened to it most often.

I began to feel more connected with my baby, more relaxed, and inspired about his upcoming birth. The day before he was born, which happened to be Mother's Day, I was having what I thought were Braxton Hicks all day. I was breathing through each one and thinking whew little man is due in 5 days, I wonder if he will make it. Well at about 12:45am I was laying in bed breathing through a contraction and my water broke! Then it occurred to me, I must have been having real contractions lol! That's why they hurt so much! So I yelled and told my husband. I started to time my contractions and they were 3-5 minutes apart. The crazy part is one thing I talked to my husband about previously is that I didn't want to go to the hospital too early. So God took care of that lol. We got to the hospital at about 2:30am and I was 7-8cm dilated.  It seems like the contractions were starting to come back to back then. I was like whew! Am I sure I want to do this naturally!?? At some point, I told my husband babe I can't do this I want some medicine! Lol. (I can laugh about it now.) But the nurse said it was too late, the baby would be drowsy. Which in the end, I am glad it was because my goal was not to receive an medicine.

The breathing techniques described in the book really helped me through the contractions and my husband was an excellent support system! There was a time when I wasn't dilated all the way but I felt my body (uterus) pushing the baby. The nurse told me to breathe quickly so that the pushing would stop. That was one of the hardest parts of my birth. She eventually had me lay on my side and soon after that, little man wasn't waiting anymore and my husband said the doctor came in right as little man came out. I didn't even push. (The book mentions that though often practiced, pushing is not necessary in birth.)  I felt his head and then his body come out. Then I said, Hallelujah it is over, thank God. Lol! At 5:31 am I had given birth to a beautiful 7lb 10oz healthy baby boy! I was so shocked, empowered, and proud! I felt & feel like this is one of my great accomplishments in life. After the birth, my husband told me that he was proud of me and inspired. Those words meant more than he will ever know.

Had I known about the hpynobirthing method before or earlier in my pregnancy, I think I would have really been a beast! I still doubted myself during the birthing process but I know that extra time and know how would have helped a lot. But oh well! I was still blessed to learn about it at all and I posted about it on Facebook and instagram!
