Marriage God's Way: Messy Beautiful Love Book Review & Giveaway!

Blessings loves!

In my previous post I mentioned that I have recently received a copy of Messy Beautiful Love: Hope and Redemption for Real Life Marriages by Darlene Schacht of Time Warp Wife to read and review. I have been following her on Facebook for a while and always love her marriage tips and advice on her blog. When this opportunity came up, I jumped at the chance to be able to read a book to help me live my marriage as God intended it to be!

I couldn't have said it better! I was so excited to read her book and expected to read nice pretty words of what we should and shouldn't being doing in our marriages. Not that this book doesn't include that, but it is Darlene's testimony.

I felt like I really got to know Darlene in this book.  She shares the ups and downs of her marriage. It is great to know you are not alone if this role of being a wife and striving to God's will. She has such a great writing style and makes you not want to put the book down because you want to know more and more.

She starts the book with her husband coming home on his birthday and asking "Are you having an affair?". She goes on to admit that she did and how he showed her grace when she didn't deserve it. The same way God shows us grace everyday.

There are several messages I took away from this book, I couldn't possibly list them all! A few are:

“When marriage functions as God intended it, both a husband and a wife bring glory to God..."

If you want your husband to grow into a strong man of God who will lead your family, you have to step back and give him room to grow.

It is more important to DO right than to be right.

Trust your husbands intentions.

We have been forgiven much; therefore, we have much to forgive.

"Sacrificial love is what the best marriages are made of."

When you truly love someone, you look for and hope for the best in them. That's when you begin to see him in the light of Gods grace.

'Submission is a choice...it's not something that should be imposed on us...it's our response to God's love.'

Well that was more than a few huh!? Lol. And there are so many more great messages in this book! I will be talking more about them on the blog so stay tuned!

This book helped me to appreciate my husband for the wonderful gift of God that he is. I hope it does the same for you! At the end of each chapter she offers a challenge for us to pray and take on to become better wives in our marriages. I really loved that! Maybe it is the competitor in me lol. Thank you Darlene!

Mom, Be You Bravely! MOPS 2014

Blessings loves!

I am so excited because MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) started again today! Yay! If you read my post from last year, it was my first year and I am back again and loving it! This year's theme is Be You Bravely.

It is so good to be back amongst such wonderful mothers!
There is nothing like support from other moms who know what this calling of
being a mother is all about!

Being a mother, we must be brave not only for our children, but for our selves!
The feather was chosen because it is a symbol of courage that enables flight...

Each MOPS group is broken up into subgroups.
Our group's name is Heroically You! Aren't we all heroes, moms? What a job it is lol!

Every meeting there is a speaker or a craft. For the first meeting, our craft was bracelets which is right up my alley! Lol. The bracelets included a peace charm, brave charm, and feather charm. Super cute for the fall and inspirational!

I love having this time with fellow moms to talk with and hear their testimonies.
It is good to know you are not alone! lol

Here is a quick video to by MOPS to explain this year's theme.

Find a MOPS group near you by visiting www.mops.org.

What the World Says Vs What the Bible Says

Blessings loves!

Sometimes in life we get caught up in hearing the voices of those around us and we forget what the bible says. God wants us to think positively and love ourselves, not doubt ourselves as His creations! Here are 4 scriptures to counter those negative voices that may sometimes surround you!

What scripture do you meditate on when the world starts to get to you?

7 Marriage Scriptures Inspired by Love

Blessings loves!

Marriage is hard work and sometimes may seem like a mundane job. Let us not forget that marriage should have a basis of love for one another and God. Here are a few scriptures to remind us to keep love flowing in our marriages!

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.- 1 Peter 4:8

Some things our spouse may do may seem unforgivable, but let us remember that we love our spouse.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. -1 Corinthians 13:4-7

This says SO MUCH. When we want to envy, be prideful, rude, or rejoice in our spouse's trials; we should remember these things are not of love.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. -Ephesians 5:25-27

This scripture is so powerful. We should love our spouse and be willing to give ourselves for each other. Be a Godly example to one another.

Let your fountain be blessed,
And rejoice with the wife of your youth.
As a loving deer and a graceful doe,
Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
And always be enraptured with her love.
-Proverbs 5:18-19

So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. -Ephesians 5:28

I love that this scripture talks about the husband loving himself and his wife. As spouses, we are as one and should love ourselves as well as our spouse.

Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. -Colossians 3:18-19

One major way that women know they are appreciated is by their husband expressing love to them.

Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. -1 Peter 3:7

What scripture reminds you to keep love in your marriage?
